I love it when they learn to fly

For the past few weeks I’ve been doing a day here and there on a client site. Initially a spec/redesign of their network. This turned into building the network, as well as training their IT guy. For a few weeks after the deployment I was getting calls from the IT guy about various problems.

Today it all changed. He fixed 2 really hardcore problems by himself. Using all the pieces he’s learnt over the previous month or so, today he put it all together and trouble shot advanced problems to resolution.

When we spoke today he told me he was ‘right from here’, and was comfortable running the network. Very happy to see him learn from never touched a router, to building routers, switches, and firewalls, as well as admin, install, and troubleshooting. All in 4 weeks.
